MARTIN, LINDA

Stage name of LORNA MARTILKOVA. Resident at 1611 North Orange Drive, Hollywood, where ELIZABETH SHORT stayed for a week in December 1946. Disappeared when she realised that the LAPD wanted to question her over Short's murder. Arrested by DWIGHT BLEICHERT. When interrogated, said that she met Short at SHERYL SADDON's place in the autumn of 1946 and that they acted in a lesbian film made in Tijuana by a Mexican she met in Gardena - 'Raoul or Jorge or something'. As she admitted to MEG CAULFIELD it was actually WALTER 'DUKE' WELLINGTON.

MAYNARD, WALTER COLEMAN

" a surefire degenerate baby raper" in the words of Captain JACK TIERNEY.  Suspect in the Highland Park sodomy case and the Bunker Hill house burglaries. Arrested by DWIGHT BLEICHERT

MANLEY, ROBERT  

Nickname 'Red' (red hair). Suspect in the Black Dahlia murder as he was with ELIZABETH SHORT five days before her murder.  Interrogated by HARRY SEARS. Verdict: innocent.

MILLARD, RAY 

Also known as 'Russ', Lieutenant, 2nd in command at Homicide. "A tall, gray-haired man in an immaculate double-breasted suit...carried with him an air of authority that was more like a judge or hotshot lawyer than a cop". 

MURAKAMI, SAM

Snitched by DWIGHT BLEICHERT who called him 'Sammy'. Died in Manzanar.

NASH, RAYMOND DOUGLAS   

Nicknamed 'Junior'. "long bony head, thin lips, beady eyes and ears that could have belonged to Dumbo".  Convicted rapist and armed robber. Wanted for a string of rape and robbery warrants. DWIGHT BLEICHERT and LELAND BLANCHARD were trying to find him when the body of ELIZABETH SHORT was found close by to where they were. Killed by LELAND BLANCHARD at a robbery scene; Nash had already killed the store's owner and his son.

Questioned there by DWIGHT BLEICHERT in relation to the murder of ELIZABETH SHORT. Examined Short having been paid by JOSEPH DULANGE to do so and tell Short that she was pregnant. Told DWIGHT BLEICHERT that after the examination Short used his 'phone to call someone called 'Marcy' 

'ROZZIE'   

Waitress at Otto's Hofbrau, Boston. DWIGHT BLEICHERT pretended to be a reporter and talked to her about ELIZABETH SHORT from when she worked there in 1942. Rozzie knew little and spotted DWIGHT BLEICHERT as a cop.
